In an emergency, call 911. #SameNow is not an emergency service. In a conversation, the shield opens Call 911, with your approximate address when your phone can tell. On an iPhone, pressing and holding the side button and either volume button also calls 911.

1. The rules, in plain words
These are the rules of our Terms of Service, said plainly. They cover everything you do through #SameNow — your posts, your notes, your chats, and the meetups you arrange. We have zero tolerance for abusive users.
- Respect a no. A declined #Interest, one left unanswered, or "Thanks, but I'll pass" is an answer. Don't ask again, and don't come back from another account.
- Meet in public. Don't press anyone to go somewhere private, to drink, or to get in a car with you.
- Be who your profile says. Your own photo, your own name, one account, and 18 or over.
- Don't photograph or record anyone without their agreement.
- Never follow anyone, or try to find out where they live or where they are.
- No sexual solicitation, harassment, threats or hate, and no selling or spam.
Breaking them can get content removed, or an account restricted or banned. A ban is for good: the number can't sign up again. Something that happens at a meetup counts as much as anything said in the app. If we restrict or ban your account, we tell you; if you think we got it wrong, write to support@samenow.app and we'll look again.
2. Before you meet
- Keep the conversation in #SameNow until you're comfortable: we can only act on what's reported to us from the app. #SameNow never sends a link to sign you in or to verify your account.
- Look for the verified tick. It means our moderator matched the person's selfie to their profile photo — not that they are safe, and not a background check. You can choose to get #Interests only from verified people.
- Pick a busy public place, in daylight if you can.
- Share a safety plan with someone you trust: the place, the time and who you're meeting. If you don't check in, they get a text with the details.
- Arrange your own way there and back.
3. When you meet
- If you're bringing a friend, say so before you go.
- You can leave at any time, without explaining. In the app, "Thanks, but I'll pass this time" ends the conversation politely.
- Keep your drink and your things with you.
- If you feel unsafe, go somewhere busy and call 911 — the shield in the conversation has it.
4. Afterwards
- Check in on your safety plan, so your contact isn't alarmed.
- If something went wrong, report it from the conversation as soon as you can. A conversation's messages are deleted a day after it ends; a report keeps a copy for our review.
- Reporting also blocks them. A block is immediate, mutual and silent: the person blocked isn't told.
5. What we do
- Every account signs up with a phone number and says it is 18 or over.
- Nobody is shown exactly where you are: others see a rough distance and an area at least 150 metres (500 feet) from you.
- Posts, notes, profiles and messages are checked automatically for abuse.
- Someone who isn't being answered can't keep asking: a declined #Interest, or several left unanswered, pause them. New accounts can send only a few #Interests a day.
- We review every report within 24 hours, physical safety first. An account that enough people report for a safety reason is restricted automatically until we have reviewed it.
- When we decide a report, we tell the person who made it whether we took action — never what we did. We never tell anyone who reported them.
- A banned phone number can't be used to sign up again.
- If someone shared a nude or sexual image of you without your consent, we remove it within 48 hours of a complete request — you don't need an account to ask. See Remove an intimate image.
6. Children
#SameNow is for adults. If you think someone using it is under 18, report them. If you see anything sexual involving a child, report it to us and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678 — and don't screenshot or forward it. When we find child sexual abuse material, or an adult trying to draw a child into sexual activity, we report it to NCMEC ourselves, as US law requires.
7. For law enforcement
Send requests to legal@samenow.app, from an official address. We disclose personal information only when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent someone being seriously harmed. In an emergency involving a risk of death or serious injury, say so in the subject line.
We keep little, and not for long — our Privacy Policy lists how long. A conversation's messages are deleted a day after it ends, unless a report kept a copy. We can preserve what we still hold while legal process is obtained.
8. Contact
